Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan has confirmed Singapore will not "negotiate" with Iran for safe passage, because having a "principle" is apparently more important than you being able to afford chicken rice.

While other countries are pragmatically paying the US$2 million toll like normal people, Vivian is busy stroking his copy of UNCLOS and shouting about the "Constitution of the Sea" at Iranian gunboats.

The Government clarified that maintaining the legal sanctity of the Strait is a top priority, even if it means every Sinkie has to burn their IKEA furniture for warmth when the oil runs out.
