South Korea’s US$1.15 trillion pension fund has been crippled by thousands of rabid K-pop fans, including Sinkies, after a member of boy band Enhypen dared to quit.

The fund, usually managing the survival of the elderly, was hit by 1,500 emails from fans convinced that a 7.5 per cent shareholding allows the government to kidnap a singer.

“They hold the stake right? Then use the power and make him stay lor!” screamed one local fan via a long-distance call.

“So much money inside but cannot even control one small boy? Don’t talk rot lah, just do your job and save my Oppa!”

Fund officials clarified that retirement portfolios are not designed to facilitate the trafficking of pop stars.
